Putting Nature Back on Our Side – Fighting Mesothelioma

Sara Beth

March 27th, 2013 · Herbs for

We’re happy to share this guest post from Bert Phillips from Weitz & Luxenberg.

Victims of mesothelioma often suffer much more from the results of their cancer. These effects, in combination with the side effects of the cancer treatments themselves, can result in a battle with disease that is much more difficult to win. The inundation of society with pharmaceuticals and treatments that are not a far departure from poison, often limits the options a patient feels they have available to them. However, there are numerous natural aids and herbs that can be very effective during mesothelioma treatments. It is not known what effect combining traditional medicine with holistic approaches has on the life expectancy of mesothelioma sufferers, but it can ease the discomfort and heighten the effectiveness of other treatments.
Numerous groups such as CANCERactive and Cancer Watch have conducted many studies on the effectiveness of herbs and their role as a mesothelioma treatment. Many have had surprisingly good results despite the fact that the FDA has never approved an herb as a legitimate treatment for any type of cancer.

Herbs, Homeopathy & Remedies for Cataracts

Sara Beth

March 6th, 2013 · Healthy Living, Herbs for

imagesCALY6R0WThe lens of the eye is usually clear but if a person develops cataracts, the area becomes opaque and does not allow light to pass through making vision blurry. Because cataracts develop very slowly most people do not know they have them at first; additional lighting or stronger prescription eyeglasses may become necessary but will only help for a time.  If left untreated cataracts can impair vision to the point of not being able to see the face of a loved one or read the words of a favorite book and eventually could lead to blindness. National Day of Unplugging

Sara Beth

February 27th, 2013 · Healthy Living

How many times a day do you check your smart phone for status updates, emails, or text messages? Is your computer always on so you can browse at leisure? Do you take your gadgets with you to bed or to the table for dinner? I’m guilty of these things and I’m willing to betundologo[1] some of you are too.

The National Day of Unplugging is the first Friday of March each year and encourages everyone, everywhere to take 24 hours to unplug. From sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday the folks behind the idea want us to unwind, relax, reflect, get outdoors, connect with loved ones and put the technology away for a day.

If the full 24 hour period is too much for you, try to unplug for a few hours at least and give yourself an opportunity to be fully present and an active participant without checking for calls or contact from others via technology. Who knows, you may want to incorporate a few hours of unplugging each week.

Why will you unplug? To connect with others or yourself? To read a book to your child? To take a hike? Meet a friend for dinner? ….
