What does rubbing your feet or brushing them have to do with cleansing and energizing the body?

What does rubbing your feet or brushing them have to do with cleansing and energizing the body?

We had such a great response from our post, Simple Ways to Naturally Cleanse Your Body that we thought we’d share a few more tips with you. These tips are a little more difficult to implement into your life and will take some planning but will pay off! Take a look at how you can cleanse and energize your body in 10 steps!

  1. Sweat it Out:  Your skin is your largest detox organ and, when you sweat, toxins are sent through the pores. Sitting in a steam sauna encourages perspiration and should be considered in your healthy cleanse and detox program at least once a week. Check your local YMCA or community recreation center to see if a sauna is close by.
  2. Hyrdrotherapy: To boost circulation, try this classic detox technique. It’s easy to do and something you can complete in the comfort of your own home. Take a very hot shower for 3 to 5 minutes then follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Repeat this process two more times then go to bed and rest for 30 minutes.  Hydrotherapy has been useful in assisting with pain and also cleansing the skin.
  3. Smoothies Sipper: Drinking smoothies are an easy way to get closer to your daily recommended number of vegetables and fruits each day so try to avoid the pre-packaged products loaded with sugar. A smoothie made with coconut milk, half an avocado, whey powder, a frozen banana, and a handful of spinach will come out tasting like the banana but with the health benefits of each of the ingredients. With so many fruits and vegetables to choose from, the possibilities are endless. Vegetables from the smoothie will provide important vitamins and minerals to support natural detoxification in the body while the fruit and berries combat free radicals and keep your system moving.
  4. Liver Toner: We stated in the previous post how important your liver functioning properly can be and even shared cleanses you can complete to ensure your liver is healthy but what about toning this important organ? Start by giving up alcholol and coffee then try strengthening with nourishing foods and herbs. Bitter greens and artichokes contain natural compounds that stimulate function and milk thistle can remove harmful substances and repair damage. Take a look at this original formula from Hanna as well, Liver Formula.
  5. Bird Eater: No, we don’t mean to eat more poultry… we’re talking portion size. Studies suggest that reducing calories, without reducing the nutritious value of your food, can increase lifespan, halt inflammation, and reduce the risk of heart disease! Take a lesson from our feathered friends and choose foods that will fuel and heal your body and eat them in small amounts. There’s no sense in stuffing yourself at every meal! Doing so takes over your liver’s ability to function properly since it’s trying to filter and help break down the food. Be a bird eater, you’ll be happy you did.
  6. Massage Master: Did you know that massage improves circulation throughout your body, reduces stress, stimulates lymph nodes, and helps to assist your body in moving toxins from thesystem? Too expensive? Try checking for discounts at massage schools or consider a trade with a friend. Ever heard the saying, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours? Just replace scratch with massage and away you go to a cleaner system!
  7. Naturally Pure: Our skin goes through a lot in one day. Think of how many times you wash your hands or what sort of lotion or face cream you slather on. What about antibacterial gels with so many ingredients that you can’t pronounce? These products add up and have a cumulative effect on our systems. Instead of allowing your skin to soak in the chemicals, consider natural products that don’t contain parabens, phthalates, DEA, and other synthetic compounds. To learn more about the dangers of cosmetics, check out this post.
  8. Beautiful Brushing: Dry skin being brushed off the body stimulates the lymph system, our body’s natural detoxifier. Start at your fingers or toes and move toward you heart, brushing gently with a soft-bristled brush. Follow up with a warm shower to further boost circulation and move lymph.
  9. How clean is your water and what does that have to do with cleansing and energizing?

Water Purity: Hydration is important to keeping your system healthy but it’s important to not the toxins that can be found in it! Fluoride, chlorine, pharmaceutical residues, and other chemicals can make their way into your glass so invest in a good water filter. While a whole-house filter is best, those can be expensive and may not be necessary, depending on the size of your home. You can consider individual filters for sinks and showers as well. Hanna created an herbal tea to remove excess fluoride from your system, take a look here.

  10. Oil Change: Cooking with oils can create toxins that are absorbed into the foods you are cooking them in. Consider switching up your preparation method and steam your foods instead. There are inexpesive bamboo steamers or stainless steel inserts you can use to help your food not only be healthier by avoiding the toxins but also by not adding on more calories than you need! A drizzle of oil once the steaming is done is all you need.

These are still simple steps to integrate into your life to help your body natural detox and are good additions to our previous post. We hope you’ll consider these 10 steps to cleanse and energize your body and share any additional tips you have for us here!
